Permissions are optional unless needed for a feature you choose. Android settings can revoke them, but the related report or protection may stop working. In-app disclosure and consent should be read before granting access.
| Access or data | Purpose | If disabled |
|---|---|---|
| Usage access / installed apps | Shows app inventory, last-used time, and usage duration to the authorized parent. | App activity reports become unavailable or incomplete. |
| Location | Shows the child device’s current/recent location, accuracy, and timestamp on the family map when enabled. | No new device location is reported. |
| VPN / web filtering | Applies selected domain filtering and safe-search controls and reports blocked or unsafe domain events. | Web filtering and related reports stop. |
| Notifications | Displays persistent protection status, pairing information, alerts, and service messages. | Important status or safety alerts may not appear. |
| Background operation | Keeps enabled safety features and periodic reporting operating when the app is not open. | Reports may be delayed and protection may pause. |
| Device/admin or accessibility access | Used only where a clearly identified FortiSPY feature requires it, such as tamper resistance or an explicitly enabled control. | The specific control or tamper protection will not work. |
